To create an installation in the atrium that reflected the decor in the window displays, but was also a statement piece in it's own right.
Consultancy & Design:
Paul Symes & Sallie Smith at Fortnum's supplied mood boards and inspiration for the design. Sonya Storm, DZD Creative Director dreamt up the concept of hanging Christmas trees in the and Marc Pollington, DZD Head of Design finalised the design details and collaborated with the skilled installation company, that we used on our previous installs in this space, to work out the technical details.
Sourcing & Manufacture:
Due to the short lead time and the scale of the project everything used in the installation, apart from the lights, was supplied by DZD from our stock range. The trees that we used were 3 sizes of our flocked Norway spruce, with their heavy snow coating, the deocrations were jewel drops and garlands in clear and white, more garlands were used to hang aroud the trees together with diamond garlands. The lights needed to be twinkling, warm white LEDs on white flex, connectable and with extension leads - which our expert bespoke team, after a few hitches, successfully sourced in the UK.
Delivery and Installation:
Sonya and Marc installed all the lights on to the trees during the week before install. On Saturday night until the early hours of Sunday morning, a team of 5 from DZD dressed the trees with jewels and garlands. Working with the essential assistance of 5 men from the rigging company the trees were hoisted into the air and positioned pefectly.
On Sunday night Sonya and Marc returned to complete the job, hanging dozens more jewel garlands from the supporting ring at the top of the atrium. This finishing touch tied the whole display together into a single creation.
