Creation of bespoke, finely crafted, sets of laser cut steel playing cards
Mappin & Webb approached us to manufacture the sets of flying playing cards for their 240th Anniversary windows, with their Alice in Wonderland theme. They provided detailed artwork for the five different sizes of cards, which were refined to be compatible with the cutting process.
Each set had to be sturdy enough to be self supporting but also had to be bendable to create the flowing shapes needed - 0.9mm stainless steel was the perfect material. The intricate filigree designs were laser cut through the metal and they were all carefully packed for delivery.
The bespoke cut steel cards added a reflective element to the hand etched animals and carefully crafted topiary hedges in the brand's signature royal blue.
These displays were used in eleven Mappin & Webb showrooms from Guernsey to Gleneagles.
